Hey Kids!
This is your friendly neighborhood florist with a service announcement.
(now read the window above)
Every year I get some poor guy slinking in the shop the day after valentine's day and he's forgotten about sending or giving something on the day and has to make up for it. But you can't make it up no matter how much you spend. A single rose on the day means more than a dozen the day after. True. You may think I am bit crazy telling people that, but happiness is my business:) Also I would like to tell all you LADIES out there that those guys may be staunch and blokey stinky boys but they have hearts and they need to know you care too. Remember the MAN on valentines day.
*see price full valentine's list below.

Amy Pyle textiles
Amy is a Wellington based textile and surface designer, whose work is defined by her attention to detail. She employs photographic screen-printing alongside vinyl cut stencils endeavoring to push the boundaries of how traditional silkscreen printing is used within textiles.
She is visually inspired by her surroundings, by social and current events and from odd collections she has acquired over the years. The combination of these elements come together to create original interior based products, reflective of her style, that is continually evolving and expanding.
juniper is very proud to have Amy's limited edition cushion range in store now. We also are eagerly awaiting more work soon to be released.

Soooooo what do you think??? It's bold, yet clean, different and no one has got sunshine yellow beams! ya I know, SUNSHINE YELLOW. I don't even need a coffee in the morning. I've included the Angie Lewin print that was my inspiration. there are a few things that still need doing and signage still needs to change over (still working it out) to my new colours and lets not even talk about the mammoth task of repainting the OUTSIDE of the building which is a mess and if my landlord knew I was going to paint it again he'd have a fit. not because he's precious but because he doesn't like me spending money or energy to do up the building??? he thinks it's a waste on such an old building. He's a funny old thing. Any way. The painting was fun and the kids helped heaps but a massive thanks goes to Stuart, Who risked life and limb on the ladder for 6 hours painting over two days painting the high bits that I can't reach even on a ladder. Pulling a groin mussel and shoulder mussel. He's a lawyer for goodness sake and not so used to the physical demands of the painting profession. So there it is. love it or hate it. It's done. I kind of love it.

rain rain go away...where is our summer! If you're like me and anywhere in Wellington area you look out your window and another day of rain. Now I like the odd summer rain but right now we are just hoping for the odd sunny minutes, a break in the rain would be lovely. (loving this umbrella...don't know where to get one but I would parade down newtown with it if I had one)

At least we are not in a drought ??? At least it makes the plant life happy??? But i need a few more reasons before my glass looks half full. Okay, I got it, I can start the paint of the shop! I've been putting it off. hmmm. that makes me happy.

When I was a kid my sister Barbara LOVED the book Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach. She read it over and over. I stared at that cover for a whole summer while she read it, thinking with my little 6 year old brain, "who is this bird?" This new light shade reminds me of that book cover so much so I giggled when I saw it because it conjured that memory. silly I know but I think I have to have one just because it reminds me of that time, my sister (hugs) and seagulls. Pretty cool thinks to think about everyday if I had to look at it all the time:)

New this week...Fractal lampshade by Juliet Ramson $216 NZD available for purchase as of Monday 25th Jan but we are lucky to have a show piece in store now.

Sooooo there is much debate right now as to what I should paint the shop.

I really what to do justice to 2010. I like #6 on the karen walker/resene pallete.

I have anaffection for yellow at the moment that I can't explain. don't want it all over but am loving it paired withthe dusty blue and the slate grey. Am also LOVING the idea of a really large scale black board.

ALSO a big thanks to 100 layer Cake and design*sponge for heaps of colour inspiration I really can't wait to dig in...now where the hell did I store all the painting gear?

New to juniper... "Your Favourite Tee" by Mardle.
Shiana Weir launched the Mardle brand in August 2009 followed by the launch of the label’s inaugural collection in October.
As a Massey graduate with a Bachelor of Design(Hons) (Fashion&Textiles), Shiana has worked in the fields of Marketing, Merchandising and Graphic Design since leaving University.

Your New Favourite Tees are the result of Mardle's design philosophy - to create pieces not just clothes, using a flattering cut, a higher class of fabric and light hearted graphic elements.
Created from Modal, a textile made from spun Beechwood cellulose, the tees have a remarkable level of comfort and wearability. The fabric is much softer and more breathable than pure cotton, is resistant to both shrinkage and fading and is environmentally sound as the process produces a considerably smaller quantity of harmful waste than in the production of cotton.
The tee's combine multiple design features which flatter a woman's figure including:
- The Shaped Hem - getting rid of the nasty horizontal line which cuts women in half- The Scooped Neck - defining any woman's assets- Tailored side seams - allowing the tee to follow a woman's contours- Slightly Longer, Bound Sleeves - for a more graceful finish
As part of Mardle's continuing support of the New Zealand textile manufacturing industry and commitment to a higher quality of product, every stage of the manufacturing process, fabric, construction and printing, is carried out in Aotearoa. Support New Zealand Made Fashion.
Shiana wanted to keep production of the tees as local as possible. The Modal fabric for Your New Favourite Tee is knitted in Levin, the tee itself is manufactured in Porirua and printed in Newtown.
Sam like the singing bird I like the pinwheel, I thinks its a cute nod to Wellington.

Check it out!
I was delighted to see the lovely article in the latest Homestyle magazine.
The Pictures of the shop by Erin King are so beautiful but even more meaningful is the wonderful article written by Lucinda Diak. We have had a few articles written before on the shop for various New Zealand Mags and while all or any article is well and truly appreciated this was the best I feel. It really captured what I think is the essence and heart of this shop. Lucinda put into words what most people only really get to expierience whilst visiting. I am forever thankful for having the chance and pleasure to meet these lovely ladies and thank them for thier unsolicited support of what we do at Juniper. But wait there is more...in this issue you will find probably the best selection and gathering of amazing wallpaper and fabric samples that is so accesable and hot right now. Which has come in really handy right now as we are redecorating our townhouse. So run out and get a copy now. Availble from most major newsagents.
